How to Configure the Logo in Emails

Sarah Paterson -

When it comes to your logo, the same logo image is pulled onto your homepage as well as your emails. However, the logo on the homepage is automatically reduced to a compatible size, whereas the image size in your emails are not reduced. This means the emails you send out from your site are displaying in the Natural Size of the image.

There is a simple way of ensuring that the image in your email is the same size as the image on your homepage.

  1. When in the administrative section of the site, click on the Eye Icon at the bottom left of the screen to get to the Homepage previewer. If you are already logged in and viewing your homepage you can skip to step 2.
  2. Right-click on the logo
  3. Click Inspect Element, or simply Inspect on some browsers. The source window will appear on the edge of your screen.
  4. Hover over the logo source, this should be automatically highlighted. While hovering over the source your logo image should appear and underneath it will be the pixels the image is currently in
  5. The pixel image of the logo on your homepage will appear first. If the Natural Size of your logo is different than the homepage logo it will appear in brackets. For example, the homepage image may be something like 450 x 100 pixels, whereas the Natural Size of the image will be 3100 x 700 pixels, or something similar. Therefore it will appear as "450 x 100 pixels (Natural Size: 3100 x 700 pixels)"

The Natural Size is the size of the image being pulled into emails. A large image may cause issues with how the email is displayed. In order to resolve this you will need to reduce the natural size of the image. You can do this by using a photo editor like Photoshop to reduce the pixel size, if you do not have photoshop on your computer you can a find free online software in order to edit the image. It is best to reduce the size of the image to the size that is displaying on your homepage (ex. 450 x 100 pixels) that way the image quality is not affected in anyway on your homepage.

You can then re-upload your logo again by going to The Basics > Images and uploading the new image.
